A Simple Word for Complex People

Jesus called for service to God that grows from the heart, not just from words. Heart-rooted words have power, for good or ill. Everything else is just noisy breathing.

Dreams and visions are gifts from God, but we can easily misunderstand what God is saying if we see ourselves as the main character. It's always about God.

We are defined by our perseverance, not our pain.

The Kingdom of Heaven, the community of the faithful that serves as the presence of Christ on earth today, is cultivated intentionally. Being a follower of Jesus means understanding that you are a cultivated being planted in a particular place, to accomplish those things God designed for you to do.

Jesus did for us what we could not do for ourselves. That was half of God's plan. The conversion of the world into the Kingdom of God ... that's fulfilled in us.

The Kingdom of God cannot be legislated into existence. Christian Nationalism has never worked. It's the thinking of children. The Kingdom of God can only be built by loving others with the same heart that God loves us.

We all have relationships that define us. Those relationships take priority over every other part of our lives, and the rest of our lives are forced to conform. God desires to be the relationship that defines us.

One of the more common criticisms of Christians is that we are hypocrites, behaving like buffoons Monday through Saturday and counting on Sunday worship to wash us clean. Being an authentic person of faith means walking in gratitude, and living a life of genuine transformation.
