A Simple Word for Complex People

To be rooted in what is, while watching for what's promised, can be a source of immense frustration. Yet, that's precisely where we are as the church. It's time we embrace our role as a loving, transformational community in which we bridge the gap between the two.

The question that we must invariably ask: Are we disruptable? Can we abandon decorum and predictability when the Spirit moves?

We honored our graduates today, and shared this word about the importance of healthy community.

My mother was a fierce advocate for me, and I have advocated for children who had none. I pray this word not only reminds you of those who have advocated for you, but especially that the Holy Spirit is forever advocating on your behalf.

Let me confess: I am fighting a kidney stone. You'll hear the pain and lack of sleep in my voice. I pray God blesses you despite my ailments!

You and I stand as testimonies that everyone and anyone can do hard things. But our American culture is so panicked and fearful that we have surrendered the ability to see our way through, and see God in the midst of it all. Psalm 23 reminds us, "I shall fear no evil."

That slapping sound you hear repeatedly is me hitting the back of my head. I did not plan on slapping my own head repeatedly when I woke this morning, but here we are. Take a listen for context!

He is RISEN! Having withstood the breaking, Jesus rises, and beckons us to join Him in the Risen Life. He also asks us to go and tell the story. 

We settle, too often, for the blessings that satisfy our immediate needs, without pushing forward into the even greater blessings God has in store for us! 

There are times when we are called to act, but also times when we are called to wait and let the process work. As Tom Petty said, the waiting is the hardest part.
